レゲエ調にアレンジされたRolling Stonesの"Play with Fire"からスタート。
この頃、Gov't Muleはレゲエをテーマにした"Mighty High"をリリースしたばかり。

Disc 2は本編が始まる前に3分弱のチューニングをしている様子まで収められている生々しい感じのライブで始まるLed ZeppelinのHouse of Holyライブ。ゲストにAudley Freedを迎えているのもミソ。


以前、何かのレビューでGov't Muleはただのカヴァー・バンド（トリビュート・バンド）と何が違うんだ？みたいなのを読んだことがある。つまりオリジナリティの欠如を指摘したものだった。
確かにこのバンド、ライブとかでもカヴァーが多い。ただ、そのカヴァーはR&Bやゴスペル、ジャズでも何でもロック的なパワーを持っているものなら何でもと振幅が広い。そして、その全てがしっかりとGov't Mule色に染め上がっているのも確かだと思う。
個人的にGov't Muleの凄いところは実はここで、その懐の深さがなによりもGov't Muleらしいところなんじゃないか、と。その懐の深さは自分たちのスタジオ盤にしっかりと刻まれGov't Muleのロックをガツンと聴かせてくれる。
一度、ライブ見てみたいねぇ。
