これも一つのジャズロックだろ。
Pat MethenyやJaco Pastorious、Michael Breckerがいる、ってだけの話ではなく、各プレイヤーきっちりと自己を押し出したプレイをさせているJoni Mitchellの懐の深さに驚く。ソロもあるんだけど、曲の中でプレイヤーがはっきりとそれと判るプレイをしているのが、ね。
当然と言えば、当然なんだろうけど、そうでない場合の方が多い気もする。。。

このライブの前に作られたのが"Mingus"というCharles Mingusとのコラボ作。Charles Mingusの曲にJoni Mitchellの声が乗る、という作風。
バックはWeather Reportの面々。
Joni Mitchellは積極的にジャズ・ミュージシャンを使っている印象が強い。Larry Carltonとか。
因みに"Free Man in Paris"のJoni Mitchellのスタジオ・ヴァージョンのギターはJose Feliciano。



その一方で、"Travelogue"なんてアルバムもある。
これ、因みにRoine Stoltのファイヴァリットとしてファンの間では有名。
オーケストラ・アレンジを施したセルフ・カヴァー集なんだけど、そんじょそこいらのシンフォニック・ロックなんて目じゃないぐらいの純シンフォ作。
