V.A. ロック雑感

Santanaのカヴァー・アルバムに収められている"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"を聴いて、やっぱりギタリストはこれが好きなんだなぁ、と改め思ったりして。。。Eric Claptonのアレにみんな痺れたわけだ。。。

見事にBeatles率が9/12という…当然か…うん？！やっぱ、みんなBeatlesが好き？
その中で異色なのは、やっぱりMasters of Realityの"Devil's Radio"。これ、87年発表の"Cloud Nine"からの選曲。他の非Beatlesが"Living in the Material World"と"All Things must Pass"と70年代のアルバムだからして…余計際立つ。しかも選曲も良い。流石だ、Chris Goss。
この一覧を見て気がつくのは5分台以上に突入した楽曲は全員ギタリスト、という。。。これだから…この人達（Marc Ford、Leslie West、Wayne KramerにJuy Bennett）は。。。"Isn't It a Pity"は元々長い曲だけどねぇ。Marc FordはThe Black Crowesにもいたギタリスト。Leslie WestはMountain。Wayne KramerはMC5に、Juy BennettはWilcoとラインナップ的にも意外と面白い。
にしても、ロック史に燦然と輝く名盤中の名盤"All Things must Pass"から1曲だけ、というのも勿体ない話である。


They might be Giantsのちょっと変わったスタイルやレイドバックしたサウンドが心地良さを倍増させるBill Wyman's Rhythm Kings。轟音を轟かせるWayne Kramerにニヤリ。あのRingo Starrのバタバタ感があるドラムがあるともっと良いのにねぇ〜。
