このCrimsonナンバーを2管編成でやる、というのは非常に興味深い試みじゃないか、と。
都合が付かなかったのが惜しいな。。。
"Spend Us Three"と"Catleys Ashes"は敢えて21st Century Schizoid Band名義にしてみた。多分ここが初出？Jakkoの"Catelys Ashes"は"The Bruised Romantic Glee Club"にスタジオ・バージョンが収録されている。
Ian Wallaceが携わったのがCrimsonナンバーをアコースティック・ジャズ・トリオで演奏する、というものがCrimson Jazz Trio。

Mel Collinsは2ndの方でゲスト参加している。
大元はこのIan WallaceがBrain Trainorと組んだThe Wallace/Trainor Conspiracy "Take a Train"でやった"Evidoid Suite"というThelonius Monkの"Evidence"とKing Crimsonの"21st Century Schizoid Man"を合体させたナンバーだろう。こちらではIan McDonaldがアルト・サックスで参加していた。



この2枚のCrimson Jazz Trioは初期ナンバーからKing Crimsonとしては最近に属する"Thrak"から"Inner Garden"や"One Time"を取り上げている。
ここで浮き彫りにされるのがKing Crimsonというグループの持つ普遍的なメロディーの美しさ。
新旧のナンバーどちらを演奏しても、そのメロディーの美しさは遜色がない。


ジャズを演りたくてKing Crimsonを飛び出した、というIan Wallace、Boz BurrellとMel Collins。
ジャズを演奏したければ、ブルーズを演れ、と言われた、という。
一つの環が巡りに巡った、そんな感慨を受ける作品。
